POLLY NOVAK TUTORING
Supporting young readers through the Orton-Gillingham approach

ABOUT ME
I am passionate about helping children to learn, grow and reach their full potential.
In particular, I get immense satisfaction in seeing kids overcome obstacles that prevent them from fully experiencing the joys of reading and writing. I love to work with them and foster their self-confidence.
With patience, kindness and expertise, I can help your child succeed!
What Is the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach?
Four Main Components

1. Multi-Sensory
The teaching of new concepts incorporates visual, auditory, and kinesthetic pathways. Through the OG approach, students learn language by ear (listening), mouth (speaking), eyes (seeing), and hand (writing)
2. Structured, Sequential, and Cumulative
The OG approach progresses logically at the primary level and moves to more advanced concepts that build upon the previous skill learned, with practice and review.
3. Flexible
Through careful and deliberate assessment, children are taught based on their individual needs.
4. Language-Based
OG teaches the fundamental structure of language, starting with sound/symbol relationships and progressing to more complex concepts.
